Strange not to have a Chinese restaurant named after anything golden or mythic, but this quirky Chinese, named after the Hong Kong hand-over in 1997, serves good Cantonese cuisine in pleasant wooden and tiled interior. Cantonese pop wafts out of the jukebox and Chairman Mao, as well as other Chinese figureheads, glare down at you while you eat, not to mention Karl Marx and Princess Diana. A good choice for dining in Chinatown, you can try anything from the classic rice and noodle dishes, through to fried bean curd and barbecued pork, or more intriguing delicacies. Targeted at those who come to enjoy nearby theatreland and the multitude of clubs in the vicinity, it never shuts.
