Leave it to the marketing gurus at Abolut Vodka to come up with the answer to global warming: Absolut Icebar! A genuine ice palace or maybe just a glorified igloo, Absolut Icebar is entirely carved out of ice. This preposterous idea is being trotted out in central London's Picadilly Circus to attract unsuspecting locals and tourists that think the UK is not quite cold enough. Tables, chairs, stools, the bars, and the appointments are all made of ice with the whole establishment kept at a frigid 20 degrees farenheit. Absolut is charging US $22 as a cover charge just to get into this deep freeze. But wait there's more, everyone who springs for this entrance fee will get signature mittens and a cape and their first full glass of vodka. Even the glass is made of ice -- fresh from the Torne River in Jukkasjarvi, Sweden. Adjacent to the Below Zero restaurant, patrons are allowed a 45-minute visit to the icy watering hole. The cover charge includes the first drink, but in the low 20-degree (F) temperatures, another round of the bar's signature concoctions, Absolut Iced Kisses, Winter Breezes or Hot Passions, may be necessary. If you intend to visit Absolut Icebar you might want to have a few drinks before hand. Given the steep cover charge along with the freezing temps inside it's probably a good idea to be fully loaded before entering.
