Where else but in Holland Park would one find such a divinely chic hangout? The Halcyon's small, discreet bar and dining room is for those in the know. On a summer's evening, dinner on the terrace is a London favourite. The dining room is very hotel-ish, but it works. Medium-sized but intimate, always full but never cluttered, the traditional lay out of Aix allows for tete-a-tetes and more gregarious conversation. This is a wonderful spot for a date. The cuisine is a la francais and chef Nigel Davies (former head chef at The Ivy) does get a few pulses racing - like his clientele; he has a weakness for truffles and other seasonal delicacies. Indulge in gorgeous venison or rib eye steaks, but save some room for the suitably sticky and calorie-laden desserts.
