The Astor hostels were established in 1974 as the first independent youth hostels in London. They are aimed at 18-35 year olds. This one has a friendly, fun atmosphere and is in a lively area close to Hyde Park, to Kensington Palace and Gardens, to Portobello Road, and to Paddington station from where it is just a 15 minute journey to Heathrow airport on the Heathrow Express. There are plenty of pubs, cafes, restaurants and cinemas in the area. It's also close to Astor's Hyde Park hostel where there is a late-opening bar and club and a travel agency.
