Was Peter Gordon the first person to bring Asian fusion cuisine to London's foodies? The answer does not really matter to fans of Bali Sugar and its sister restaurant The Sugar Club, which occupied this site before moving to Soho. The food is simple but fantastic. Typical menus feature seared tuna sashimi and pan roasted halibut with red aubergine curry served with steamed rice and coriander. The food is complemented by the cool dark green deco and in the summer, when the weather permits, you can eat in the garden behind the restaurant. Bali Sugar is intimate and warm, which makes it an inspired choice for crucial dates and cosy group reunions.
