This little piece of Portugal in the heart of South London is very popular with the local Portuguese community. In warm weather when the French doors are flung open and you're munching on a thick egg and ham tortilla with the sun shining on your face, you'll wonder why you need to go on holiday anyway. The food is delicious - try gambas estrela and be transported to your last sun-kissed holiday; the arroz de marisco (the Portuguese version of paella), and the classic carne de porco a alentejana, a bowl filled with chunks of fried pork, potatoes and clams – sound weird, tastes delicious. This is solid, unpretentious cooking, but don't expect dirt-cheap prices.
