With a sparkling diversity of genres to meet the demands of today's dance generation, Bar Rumba lives up to the hype as one of London's leading late night venues. Although located beneath the notoriously glitzy Trocadero, it maintains a raw but laid back vibe. Club nights traverse the musical spectrum from full flavoured Latin to funk, galaxy-cruising house to DJ-focused garage and innovative drum 'n' bass, and jazz to R&B and street soul. The basement bar also stages regular live bands, guest DJs and a battle of the decks. Long-running Monday nighter, Gilles Peterson's That's How It Is, is perhaps the most acclaimed, playing anything from classic jazz to modern breakbeats through the state of the art sound system. Stocking a surfeit of beers and cocktails, happy hours land between 5p-9p Monday-Friday, but you can abandon any hopes of ever finding a seat, although once the music kicks in, the last thing on your mind will be sitting down. Admission: £3-£12 after 9p.
