The privately owned Basil Street Hotel was built in 1910. With its antique furniture, fine paintings and rare objets d'art, the Knightsbridge boutique hotel retains an ambience which is elegant without being ostentatious. It is also home to the Parrot Club, the exclusive club for ladies. Located near all the best houses of fashion (Gucci and Alberta Ferretti are just down the street), the hotel is also an excellent place to go for afternoon tea once you've completely exhausted yourself shopping. High tea is reasonably priced at £11.95.
