Black Pepper is the replacement eatery for Italian local Pepe Nero and, despite the name, has no relation to the Red Pepper chain of restaurants. Italian chef Alberto Chiappa (ex-LEscargot) and wife Elinor own this establishment, but the cuisine errs towards being Mediterranean rather than traditional Italian. The restaurant is decorated in bold oranges and yellows - you could easily think you were in southern France rather than Clapham Junction. The food tends to be traditional with a twist and there's quite a bit of seafood on offer. Dishes include risotto with champagne and prawn ragu, ravioli filled with crab, and bread dumplings with juniper sauce - wash it all down with a couple of bottles of Pinot Grigio.
