Leave all credit cards and pretensions at home. Such things were of no use to this place when it opened in 1930 and it isn't about to change its mind about them. Neither is it going to change its mind about food. Pies, mash and eels are the culinary universe. The Clarke brothers spruced their establishment up a couple of years ago. Very presentable it is too - like your granddad in his Sunday best. But the food is the thing. Pie and mash speaks for itself. The "liquor" is excellent - not a shot of Jack Daniels, but a deliciously traditional parsley-based sauce. When it comes to paying, you will assume that you've been long-changed - it's very, very good value.
