It may no longer be a 24/7 operation, but the opening hours of this gym are still a godsend to the erratic schedules of overstressed City workers. Directly across the river from the Houses of Parliament, County Hall used to be the home of the Greater London Council, the former London local authority. Now it houses the London Aquarium, a Marriott Hotel and this marvellous club. Featuring a 6,000 square foot gym, a 25m long swimming pool, more than 30 classes a week, personal trainers, beauty treatments and swish locker rooms - a rarity even at the plushest of health centres. What more could you ask for?
