The old-world outward appearance of this pub (established 1715) belies an interior that is distinctly modern. Simple lines, warm yellows and vivid reds dominate, with bookcases spread around wooden tables and chairs, interspersed with big soft couches. A flickering coal fire adds to the cosy atmosphere. This is one pub with a lengthy and interesting history, one major part of which is the Coat and Badge Boat Race. This race takes place on July 13th every year from London Bridge to Chelsea, and is the oldest continuous sporting event in the country. Food is served and the menu offers a limited choice of appetising dishes, complemented by a daily specials board.
