Despite the Gaelic name, Comme des Garçons epitomises Japanese deconstructionist and, well, black designs. Rei Kawabuko's collections are notably wearable - especially when compared to contemporaries like Yohji Yamamoto - even if her catwalk designs are a little too extreme for most people's tastes. Another popular in-store collection is the diffusion line, by Junya Watanabe, which takes on another typically Japanese favourite - the school uniform - and adds all kinds of colour and shape to the proceedings. Beware, though, as intriguing as the designs may be, they're strictly for the fashion crowd, and readers of Wallpaper.
