The Commonwealth Institute aims to promote and celebrate the Commonwealth by engaging the people of Britain and other member countries in educational, business, cultural and public affairs programmes. The tent-shaped building was constructed from donated materials from around the world, and was opened in 1962. The various galleries hold an extensive range of exhibitions from the 54 Commonwealth countries, from Indian miniature paintings to New Zealand landscape paintings and mixed media works. Admission: adults £4.45. Concessions available.
