With more than a whiff of Zafferano about it, Pimlico's newest Italian is sophisticated and the cuisine superb; just what one might expect from a restaurant that's part of the Taberna Etrusca group. This Belgravia townhouse has been redone in the classic smart Italian style with wood floors, simple room plan with an exposed brick wall, Conran furniture and muted lighting. There's also a private dining room and a conservatory area with retractable roof at the rear of the restaurant. You won't find any cheap trattoria fare here - Il Convivio neither strives for regional authenticity nor goes for the designer approach. The modern Italian results are conventional dishes like truffle risotto, mozzarella in prosciutto and sweetbreads alongside stranger forays such as truffled ice cream. The wine list will also keep you busy for hours.
