Covent Garden Piazza is the area where Covent Garden market takes place but there's also an open-air cobbled area where miming and juggling acts can occasionally be found. The 40ish market stalls sell a variety of quality goods - antiques, craft items, pictures and handmade clothing so it's a great place to find gifts. The area was formerly home to London's fruit and vegetable market, which has now moved down to the New Covent Garden Market in Bermondsey. Classical quartets and Peruvian groups regularly play in the pretty sunken courtyards amidst the market stalls. The walls of the market are formed by various (mostly clothes) shops, and there's a mechanical museum in one of the courtyards. There are a few places to eat lunch or grab an ice-cream - or stop for an evening draught in the Punch and Judy pub.
