Tucked behind Sainsbury's supermarket, this David Lloyd centre has a whole host of fitness apparatus spread over six floors. The club has excellent facilities, including a fully air-conditioned state-of-the-art gym, cardio theatre and free weight apparatus, although these are dominated by serious-looking bods busy pumping iron. There are also two wooden-floored exercise studios, a rather chlorinated 20m indoor swimming pool, a sauna, steam room, spa pool, a health and beauty suite, a children's splash pool and a crèche. Staff are friendly, the locker rooms are luxurious (complete with lovely fluffy towels), and the in-house restaurant is surprisingly good. There's also a lounge and bar area – ideal for people watching as plenty of posers come and go.
