Soho's gay scene is thirsty and thriving, and this is its epicentre. Life on The Edge takes you through four floors of colourfully heaving bars that overflow onto the square outside. Music ranges from jazz and blues, house and soul, to two-step and R'n'B. Wednesday is 80s revival night with a £1 cover charge and drinks for an amazing £1 all evening, while Eve's Revenge is sweet on Thursdays, with a resplendent range of female DJs from the capital. Weekends bring in club DJs from up and down the country, and Sunday swings with a set of live jazz from Jennifer Phillips. Bars can be hired out for private parties, and food is served here during the day (11a-6p Monday-Friday) courtesy of Easy Bite, who also do take away and free local delivery. Plentiful salads and hot dishes are about £4, while sandwiches with up to three fillings cost up to £3.
