If you're after a quintessential English dining experience - head to the Goring Hotel Restaurant. Located inside one of London's oldest family-owned hotels, the Goring Restaurant specialises in classic British fare such as fishcakes and roasted partridge in a staidly luxurious atmosphere. The maitre d is known to wear tails (its part of the ambience), and the kitchen deftly prepares wonderfully light dishes such as haddock with tomato, basil, pancetta and balsamic vinaigrette. The exemplary wine list is heavy on Old World choices, but the prices are reasonable for such an institution.
There is only a prix-fixe menu available. Lunch is £24 for two courses, £27.50 for three, and dinner is £35 for three courses.
