With its decidedly downmarket feel, The Gower is generally more popular with tourists and backpackers than corporate travellers. Entering the hotel feels slightly ominous - it's rather dim and dingy and then there's the hole in the wall reception. It can be mildly distressing for those more used to the nondescript lobbies of chain hotels but others may see a perfect setting for an ultra-real urban novel or film. But still, the basic rooms are clean and cheaper (though not by much, this is the West End after all) than a lot of the hotels in the area and the staff are nice.
