First opened in 1921 by composer Edward Elgar, it has been a pioneer in the progression of the music industry. This, the flagship store, is entertainment itself, greeting you with bright lights and flashing video screens and music resounding in every department. Jazz lovers will enjoy the basement section, which along with the store's full classical range and world music department, has its own glass enclosure. HMV is a particularly strong contender in terms of its dance music selection located on the first floor, but in addition to a healthy stock of music, it is also well endowed with games, videos, DVDs, and magazines.
