Hobbs is modifying its image of dependable but boring shoes, suits and casual wear, with sleeker lines and original pieces. The transition has gone well on the whole - although the odd horrendously patterned dress does crop up, the clothing is generally well-cut, with good quality fabric. Suits and floaty dresses are staples, but silky sequined numbers are creeping in. The shoes that first made the shop's reputation are still good value for the high quality - you can always find seasonless boots, loafers and mid-to-high heels as well as seasonal choices.
