High culinary standards prevail here in an area where competition is fierce. Chinese businessmen fill the place at lunchtime while a mixed crowd lend a colourful, vibrant atmosphere to the evenings, especially in the ground floor as opposed to the basement dining room. Service is efficient and the chef's specials are sublime, but if the curious among you want to try a dish from the Chinese-language menu, you may have to persevere with the waiter. Enjoy lunchtime dim sum, including steamed or fried dumplings bursting with barbecued pork and sesame seeds, chicken and mushroom or a whole juicy tiger prawn filling they're addictive, but you can estimate spending only £8 per person for a great selection of these little morsels. Set meals (for a minimum of two people) are £10-£16 a head, featuring the likes of tastily delicate beef and ginger parcels and cold pressed duck with crispy, flavoursome skin; a bottle of house wine can accompany your feast for less than £10.
