Situated under The Lux gallery, the Hoxton Square bar is the drinking den of choice for uber-chic Shoreditch scenesters, and can boast the likes of Brit-art's enfent terrible Tracy Emin and hip designer Alexander McQueen amongst its clientele. It's another London bar with bare concrete walls, battered leather sofas and dim lighting (except for when passing cars shine their lights onto the back window), but the city's bohemians seem to love it and the soporific ambience is comforting and relaxing. It gets extremely busy at weekends, but in the summer customers spill out onto the patio area at the front of the bar, which looks out onto the square's attractive garden
