Persian food is at its best at this simply elegant Edgware Road restaurant. Try the halim bademjon starter of aubergine with traditional dried yoghurt, mint and olives or the ashrestehteh noodle soup. The meat and rice dishes are delicious, and the salmon kebab marinated in garlic, coriander and chilli is wonderful. If you feel like splurging, go for the famed Iranian caviar. The Iran Restaurant is a fairly formal place, particularly when compared to the other restaurants on this street. The walls are covered with fine historical art and there's a baby grand piano in this relatively small dining room. The staff are friendly but reserved. Despite the sense of formality, prices are low and cuisine generous.
