Issey Miyake is now well known in the fashion world for his minimalist, cleverly-constructed garments. He's been going from strength to strength for the last 30 years, and is famous for the more inspirational side of the catwalk, what some might label plain wacky. The clothing in his Brompton Road shop tends to favour the darker side of the colour spectrum, with many items being plain black or white, but occasionally a little colour creeps in. He brought the pleat back into prominence, and designs a separate a diffusion line called Pleats Please (at 20 Brook Street, off Bond Street, W1, tel. +44 20 7495 2306), featuring more of the same in plain colours and different prints.
