A splendid Georgian reconstruction with distempered walls and authentic fireplaces. The superb draught beers are the Jerusalem's main crowd-puller: winter spiced, fruit, old-style porter, even grapefruit beer – they're all hear and all worth a tipple. They can also be bought to take away in rather decorative bottles. Read the blackboard for the food menu, which may feature soup, vegetable kiev, locally-made gourmet sausages, and sandwiches. Breakfast is served at 9a for City folk. This tavern may not be the capital of Christendom but discerning pub-goers flock here religiously during the week. Please note that it is shut during the weekend. Film buffs may also be interested to note that The Wings of the Dove filmed a tavern scene within these very walls.
