At first glance, Jewel looks like your average late-licence bar. However, hidden inside is a sizeable dance floor where DJs play anything from soul to house on Thursdays to Saturdays whilst Sunday is karaoke night and Tuesday sees a live jazz band. There are also occasional comedy and cabaret performances and the bar is available for private parties. Designer beers and cocktails cost around £3 and £5 respectively and the selection of bar food (sandwiches, minute steaks etc.) are reasonable value at around £5. The quiet bar you find mid-afternoon is the calm before the storm of a switched-on, young crowd of lively West Enders and international-vibe inducing tourists, arriving in the early evening and celebrating long into the night. Over 21s only on Friday and Saturday. No jeans or trainers.
