Joe's is the quintessential ladies' lunching hang-out. Despite residing in the basement of the Joseph shop, the cafe has effectively created a bright and airy feel. White is the prevailing colour throughout and many single lunchers seem to take advantage of the steel bar. The restaurant does get very busy and is one of the few remaining places without a non-smoking policy. Glorious salads and fantastic, larger-than-life sandwiches are the trade mark while the grilled vegetable salad and the Caesar salads are truly excellent. There is a small selection of cooked dishes on the menu, but they are not the main feature. There is no wine list - but a very drinkable house wine is offered.
