The Livebait group of mid-range, quality seafood restaurants (including other branches and Cafe Fish in the West End) owe their success to consistently good cooking and quality produce. The signature green and cream colour scheme and simple wood furniture create a friendly, bistro-like atmosphere. The seafood is prepared simply but creatively and the menu is kept as fresh and as far away from the traditionally tasteless British fare as possible. Particularly recommended are the blue-fin tuna, the Indian fennel relish, and the modern seafood tart. The wine list is similarly stubborn in its refusal to be bland. This is an especially good venue for a pre-theatre meal.
