Lundum's lays claim to being London's only Danish restaurant, presenting what is for many people an unexplored culinary territory with an effusive passion, a rare originality, and all the charm of a family-run establishment. Amid the clean, white decor that whispers of Scandinavia, lunch consists of the most traditional Danish dishes: pickled herring, smoked halibut with capers or smoked eel with scrambled egg and chives, open sandwiches, and wonderfully fresh platters. Dinner takes a turn towards France, imaginatively combining the two gastronomies to come up with specialities like roasted cured duck, cod carpaccio or cannelloni of smoked salmon from the symphony of salmons menu. Simple yet sensational, and not a pastry in sight.
