Luxurious and star-studded it may be, but the Metropolitan is unlike any other hotel in its genre. The Donna Karan bedecked staff are youthful and energetic, as opposed to mature and reserved, yet are polite and helpful. And the décor is fabulously minimalist throughout and combines clean lines with subtle colours and a warm lighting. It is, of course, also home to celebrity hangout the Met Bar and Michelin-starred restaurant, Nobu. And it might be after a night at either of these that you decided to detoxify with a cleansing Tai Chi workout, or a relaxing Indian head massage. Alternatively you could just get your personal butler and/or PA to nurse you back to health.
