The Mitre House Hotel, conveniently located for all of London's attractions, is an old family-run outfit. It's not special though the lounge and lobby, which must be the stuff of interior decorators' nightmares, is rather endearing. You can bet that you will never see the mix of Chesterfield sofas, rattan furniture and British Airways souvenir airplanes on the reception desk, anywhere else. The rooms have a slightly musty atmosphere with lots of browns and more wood and rattan. While they are not special, they are fairly comfortable and serve the purpose of resting your head after a long day.
