An art gallery is best known by the artists it promotes. Modern Art has tried to live up to its name by featuring iconic artists, such as Bas Jan Ader, who died at the age of 33 while trying to cross the Atlantic Ocean in a sailboat attempting an art performance challenging death itself. The gallery has also exhibited works by Barry McGee, who combines street graffiti with everyday objects, such as junkyard cars, boxes, masks and picture frames to create diverse kinds of visual art.
