Stomp is a terrific show of music, dance, theatre, choreography, performance art. Stomp the musical is founded on the simple idea of using ordinary objects to create extraordinary rhythms, transforming the routines of everyday life into a dynamic celebration of sound and movement. In an industrial work yard, eight rhythmically gifted and extremely coordinated performers in heavy boots, dungarees and singlets exploit the likes of brooms, bins, plungers, plastic bags, matchboxes and lighters for every pulse of rhythmic vitality. Everyday objects are used in non-traditional ways. There is not hidden message, no political connotations, no pretentious techniques, and no dialogue to misconstrue. Without a word spoken on stage, different characterizations clearly emerge. Energy and sheer thumping dynamism are irresistible. This is a pure stage magic that seems to suit all ages.
