There is something a little more refined about the small and cozy Nayab than many other Indian restaurants in London. Its decor may not be anything special, but it caters well for an appreciative local audience - one big bonus is the permission to bring your own alcohol (with no corkage fee) on Sundays and Mondays. The atmosphere is welcoming and service not too intrusive, but the best feature of Nayab is definitely the cooking, which takes an original and experimental approach to many traditional dishes. Forget about your usual order of Chicken Tikka Massala and try the delicious Scallops shashlik for starters or the Monkfish Ambotik (Goan fish curry) for mains. The wine list is perhaps a little small, but not a lot of wine tastes great with Indian anyway - much better to toast the chef with a Cobra beer.
