If your knowledge of Russian culture doesn't extend past stodgy dumplings, communist dictators, money laundering and babushkas, then an evening here will do you some good. The decor is appropriately quaint, with imperial mementos and Byzantine patterns. Beware, though, it can get quiet rowdy especially when the vodka hits hard. As such, it's an ideal place to go with a large group of friends, perhaps as a prelude to a night on the tiles. The dishes are creative and well-executed, although they can be a bit heavy. Particularly recommend is the beef stroganoff and savoury pancakes and, of course, the caviar.
