Originally a specialist travel bookshop, Nomad Books is now a medium-sized, independent general bookshop spread over two floors, with its entire lower floor devoted to a fairly comprehensive travel section. The upper floor contains sections for general fiction, cookery, reference, gardening, art, and children's books. There is a two-day ordering service for any titles that you can't find. At the rear of this friendly and airy shop is a cosy seating area for the serious browser, with big soft chairs and a drinking water machine. Altogether a welcome alternative to the commonplace book chainstores.
