Not the place for an intimate heart to heart, this small restaurant looks more like a café or a delicatessen. Waiting staff hold court from behind the deli counter as customers dine at 18 easily overloaded pine tables. Clumsy eaters should take care as the low tables don't allow much elbow room, but the food still lures in the customers for a steady trade most nights of the week. Despite being quite low-key in appearance, the simple, no-nonsense décor appeals mainly to couples that can afford to pay well for their Italian (starters are about a fiver, and most mains over a tenner). Smokers should steer clear as there's a ban on cigars and pipes, but the clean air will be a blessing for non-smokers.
