If you want a really high quality Chinese, then the Princess Garden of Mayfair is the place to go. The restaurant is pretty imposing from the outside with shuttered windows and fierce gargoyles protecting the entrance. A hostess is on hand at reception to lead customers through to the refined, spacious and authentically decorated restaurant. The manager is unsmiling, but helpful, and the menu extensive. Delicacies like shark's fin soup cost over £30 per person, and lobster is £23 per pound. There are dishes around the £10 mark but parties might prefer a set menu, which can range from £30-45 per person, and sound delicious. Popular with Chinese visitors, the restaurant is certainly a cut above the rest, and is definitely the place to impress. Amy Fetzer
