The River Café is the archetypal greasy-spoon, and is not to be confused with the top Italian eatery of the same name. The mouth-watering aromas coming from the kitchens might cause your arteries to start hardening the moment you enter. Don't let this put you off, however, for a triple-bypass will seem a small price to pay for the palliative powers that the fry-ups at this place have over even the most ferocious hangovers. The staff and décor of this fine, large cafe are Italian, and the large glass front gives the place an airy and light atmosphere. Fry-ups at The River Café are £2-£3.
