Despite being a private club dating back to 1868, this club avoids the normal strictures, such as having to wear ties and not permitting children. It has a subtle grandeur and is directly connected to the Royal Commonwealth Society, an educational charity that donates its profits to educating children in Commonwealth countries. With gastronomic influences from all around the Commonwealth, you'll find York Ham and Chicken Tikka comfortably alongside each other on the menu. Prices are very reasonable. As with all the best clubs, one needs to become a member. Membership is around £200, plus £40 signing-on fee - a special discount if you've seen it on this site! (It is normally £100.) Please note that people are allowed to try out the Club once, before being required to take up membership.
