Victor Ubogu, former England rugby international, owns this restaurant-cum-sports bar. You can catch most major sporting events on the huge video wall in the main bar downstairs, but over the last couple years Shoeless Joe's has been working more on its image as a classy bar-restaurant-club for the Chelsea crowd. The upper floor holds the restaurant, which is decorated with simple lines and warm colours. Serving contemporary continental food from bangers and mash to veal escalope, you can choose from a la carte or prix fixe menus (£20 for three courses). Beer and wine are averagely priced, and cocktails start at a fiver. Service is satisfactory and the staff are, without exception, friendly and attentive. Expect to queue for entry from Thursday to Saturday nights, when the relaxed atmosphere of the bar is replaced by thumping commercial house music and a packed dance floor. Visit the web site to be put on the guest list and skip the queues. There's another distinctly different branch at Temple Embankment, WC2R 2PH.
