A great place at any time of the day or night, this friendly little cafe-bar really comes to life at the Friday evening 'speakeasys' when local poets and comedians strutt their stuff, a jazz duo plays and the audience is invited to take part in a topical debate. The rest of the time you can simply chill with a book (the walls are lined with literature and verse), or just enjoy a juice, smoothie, snack or meal from the extensive menu. Freshly-squeezed juices come in pint glasses (the 20 varieties include options to help with PMT, stress and impotence); there's also coffee, tea and alcoholic beverages. The menu is every bit as funky as the entertainment, encompassing everything from Organic Roast Lamb to Roast Pepper Wellington and seasonal soul food. A long list of smoothies includes several named after locally-famous books and their authors: try a 'Wicked In Bed' by Sheri Cambell, or a mint choc chip and hazlenut 'Yardie' by Victor Headley.
