Bringing Russian food to the masses, the tongue-in-cheek attitude of this restaurant doesn't end at the name. Check out the Cold War propaganda and photos of daily Soviet life on the walls (like those images of babushkas queuing for bread). Chef Mike Soutar has taken a batch of real ex-Soviet Union recipes and revolutionised them for a British clientele, doing for Russian food what Wagamama has done for Japanese cuisine. Enjoy classics like beef Stroganoff and caviar (Oscietra caviar is comes at the bargain price of £35 for 30 grams), or go for something more exotic. Notable dishes include the barshok (sweet and sour beetroot soup) starter and mushroom pirog main (which is a sort of puff pastry pie, and absolutely delicious). And of course, it's essential to try a few varieties of the 35 vodkas on offer before leaving.
