Tartuf and Schnecke must be the only restaurants in London serving Alsatian tartes flambées. Tartufs decor is plain but friendly, with simple wooden chairs and square tables in a sparsely decorated room. The food is cheap, cheerful, and seriously delicious. Tartes flambées are extremely thin pizza type concoctions, topped with fromage frais, cheese, chives and a variety of other ingredients; while the sweet tartes are similar to crêpes. There are various ways to eat them and the restaurant even has leaflets on how to go about it. The Tartuf all-you-can-eat option allows you to order as many tartes as you want for around £10.
