Footballer Lee Chapman and actress wife Leslie Ash are the driving force behind this restau-bar-club. The only hint of celebrity presence though is the members' bar on the first floor. From the outside, the white building gives little away about what lies within, although now at least, there is a small sign. The low-key loungey club and rather awkwardly-shaped dining area are both stylishly simple, with strong shapes and subdued tones, and squashy sofas make leaving delightfully difficult. Teatro's changing menu is relatively concise and always excellent, portions are supremely generous and the staff, genuinely friendly. Try Fried Pig Trotters or layered Foie Gras Terrine, Potato Gnocchi with Artichoke or mouth-watering whole roast Canadian Lobster with Garlic Butter. The wine selection is extensive, but expensive. Teatro has also branched out in Leeds on Concordia Street.
