The doorway is the first clue you get of the thigh-slapping, stein-pounding, cowbell-ringing character of the Tiroler Hut. Descend into the restaurant and give yourself up to your hosts - Josef Friedman and his wife. You don't really have a choice about this - the smile that Josef beams out from above his accordion is impossibly infectious. Mixed with the music itself, it disarms the most uptight of patrons with ease. The charming red-and-white checked tablecloths and the traditionally dressed waitresses transport you directly to the Alps. All you need is good, honest food, drink and cheer. Happily, that is exactly what they insist on at the Tiroler Hut.
