A little part of Africa lives in this cosy mews shop off Westbourne Grove. Tribal Gathering feels like a home filled with fascinating East African art pieces such as low Ethiopian chairs and tables and Tutsi baskets. The gallery hosts some fabulous larger pieces including a 150 year-old ladder used by the Dogan clift-dwellers of Malawi and a helmet mask from Zaire. If you want to adorn yourself rather than your home, try on some of the cowrie shell and silver jewellery on display. And even some of the bigger items have fashionable uses. A Vogue model purchased a hefty Cameroonian headdress with black feathers to use on her wedding day.
