It's been around for just about forever and has played host to such musical luminaries as Bob Dylan, Paul Simon, Marianne Faithful and Joni Mitchell. Barely changed since its 1960s heydays, come see the theatre, music, comedy and poetry readings it's well-loved for. Inside, its reassuringly bohemian, full of vaguely beatnik clutter and alarmingly low stools (don't trip). The clientele ranges from artsy students to locals and the atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming. The food is hearty and filling and includes cheap pub-grub favourites such as shepherd's pie and Sunday roasts. Check the website for upcoming bands and solo artistes, who feature time and again.
